Pink Dress Bulma from DragonballYear: 2009
Event(s): Mechacon 2010 | Cyphacon 2012 | Mobicon 2012 Details: Before I spent every waking second on the internet, I never knew much about anything when it came to movies coming out. That being said, all I knew was LIVE ACTION DRAGONBALL MOVIE and I really wanted to make a set of costumes for it. This Bulma costume was mine. I used what was left of the pink upholstery fabric my mom had gotten me for my Kairi costume as well as cutting up that costume to get a zipper out instead of just buying a new zipper like a normal person. Once again, I called up my cousin and we figured out what we were doing together. The dress was pretty much just a tube with sleeves, haha. I remember when we were trying to figure out how to put the sleeves on too and they almost ended up inside out several times. The scarf was a white one I had bought from Michaels and dyed purple along with a pair of old socks. My grandma was really worried I was going to ruin her washing machine, so she insisted she dye them for me. Buying a purple bandanna and socks probably would have been easier, but little Megan was good at not thinking about those things. I did, however, make a really nice Dragon Radar out of some Fimo clay I got from Michaels and some puffy paints my grandma happened to have. The costume went through several variations over the three years I continuously wore it. Different belts, hip bags, no hip bag at all, shoes, and wigs, or, well, now wig at all, haha. The glove, however, was from a pair I had from JROTC that I continued to use for multiple costumes through the years. (Actually, I think I’m STILL using one, haha) |
