Imperfect Cell from Dragonball ZYear: 2011
Event(s): Mechacon 2011 | Mobicon 2012 | AKon 2012 Awards: Mobicon Costume Contest - First Place Details: This was another costume I thought was the cream of the crop. Granted, for my skill level back then, it looks pretty dang good! Imperfect Cell is one of my favorite DBZ villains and one day when I was playing around with the bonus features in a Tenkaichi Budokai game, I realized I could make a cute costume based around his design! (I still have the original drawing for this somewhere) By this time, the new Hobby Lobby has finally opened so it was easy for me to go and get fabric! The entire costume is just simple cottons and the spots are stick-on felt. (Which I ended up gluing on because stick-on felt really does not stick to much) I actually put more thought than I usually did into the construction of this costume. Even though it isn’t that nice, it was more than just a slapped together dress. The tails itself was really neat– the blue piece is a belt cover and the tail slides onto the belt to help hold it up, on the side, there’s a string sewn in so I could hold it up easily with my cut up sock covered wrist, and, once again, the bow was made sturdy with printer paper. This was the beginning of the “Megan buy a bunch of wigs for no reason” phase. This green wig was super nice, though! I eventually traded it to someone for a costume, but I wore it quite a bit when I had it! I originally wore this with green leg warmers and black heels but eventually traded them out for a pair of black thigh highs and green heels, but other than that, the costume stayed the same each time I wore it. (Actually, I think I ditched the hand socks as well, haha) Convention photos - 2011/2012 |
