Bunny Harley Quinn from DC ComicsYear: 2017
Event(s): Raleigh Supercon 2017 Details: The week before Raleigh Supercon, I came home and began to slave away at Harley and Ivy bunny suits for my friend Mandy and I. It was a lot of work in a very short period of time, but well worth it. Both bunny suits are made from Meredith Placko's pattern. It was a perfect fit for both of us. Mandy's is made from a green fabric with a vine pattern on it and lined with a plain green cotton and mine is red and black canvas, lined with a cute heart pattern cotton. Each suit is boned and zips up the back. The accessories are my favorite part! For the Poison Ivy suit, the cuffs and collar are made with a white fabric with very light leaf designs on it. The buttons on her cuffs are little gold roses and have fake leaves sewn in as well. Her tail is a giant fake flower we picked up at Hobby Lobby and the flower on the ear is from the same stem. Harley's cuffs and collar are made from a white textured material and have clear diamond buttons which I painted the underside with black nail polish. Her collar is also a more jester like shape and has bells on each tail because I like to be obnoxious. The tail is made completely out white yarn with black accents. It's glued into place. Both ears are two layers of fabric, covering thick interfacing and cheap Walmart wire. They were then glued onto headbands which I also covered in matching fabric. They are super light and stay up on their own! For the leaves on Mandy's suit, we just got a fake vine at the store and cut off and glued the leaves into place. For the diamonds on my suit, I used iron on pants patches and cut them into shape! |
